Beautiful. By Sarah Dawson Powell.

Usually I open my reviews with words from the book itself, but this month I’m going to do something a little different.  You see something there in the author name.  We share a name, we also shared a childhood, and parents.  In fact Sarah Dawson Powell is my eldest sibling and my only sister.   That being said, have me and her always gotten along?  Hell no!  We are two very different people, she was a girly girl and a princess always cared about what she looked like, and what people thought of her.  I was a tomboy who got down in the dirt.  We fought, we yelled, we even got in knock you down, drag it out fights over some of the stupidest shit you could ever imagine.    But, even through all that, even when we didn’t agree on what our bedroom should look like, and even with five years in age between me and her.

We always had each other’s backs, she defended me against tormentors and I was there for her when she needed someone who wasn’t our mom to talk to.  Were we best friends no, and even now as adults I know we don’t always agree with things we each other do.  But, since day one 4 years ago, when she came to me and told me she was writing a book, I was excited for her, I wanted to know everything she was willing to tell me.  And then some.  I was one of her earliest test readers, and was introduced to Sadie all those years ago.  And here I am now, proud to say my sister is now a published writer, and now here I am writing a review for a book that’s been in the works for 4 years.  Congratulations Sarah, you got there before me, and I am so so very proud of you for doing so.  I love you, and I can’t wait to see what you bring us next.
