Are you the type of person who’s interested in war stories? Do you like zombies? Do you like violence? Are you a fan of the underdogs? If you said yes to at least one of those questions, then Carnage may be for you. In fact, let’s give you a huge picture of how this story is going to go, shall we?
Carnage is a story about the infamous Dog Company, who’s been hard charging since D-Day. They’re tired, they’re overworked, they’re under disciplined, and they’re rude. In other words, these guys have seen war and lived. However, with only 6 men left from their company, they’re tasked to go forth on a secret mission by the SIS called Operation: Carnage.
Dropped off in the middle of France with no bearings on their mission and unclear orders, newly promoted company Captain Jensen C. Singer is left with no choice but to guard a Nazi SS plane with their lives. However, not all is as it seems when the war weary men discover that the village near the hot zone is quiet. Too quiet. Benjamin Blackie takes you into a world where espionage and war collide. Also, they’re given a “controller” with an inexperienced SIS agent named Wesley Webb. Wesley has to keep his American counterparts in check, while his fellow agents are not telling him the full story…
So, what do you get from our author from Down Under? A story of a near biblical apocalypse with a stunning realization that not everything is cut and dry. It’s all a question of who’s living, who’s dying, or who’s undead? When you think you’ve got the story figured out, Blackie throws a twist that you didn’t think was even gonna come out. And trust me when I say that the zombies are probably the 5th thing that’s wrong with the situation. This is a story that’s gonna require you to think a lot and have a bit of technical knowledge to pick up a good chunk of the story.
As a person in the know, I can also tell you that Benjamin does have his historical information correct. So, for a pretty accurate picture of a zombie war during “The Greatest War,” none can get better than this. If you haven’t picked it up, then go ahead and do so. It’s mindless fun. And we all want that, right?
